EA taking a stand against the Defense of Marriage Act? I suddenly don’t dislike EA quite as much. Though the article at Joystiq makes it clear this at, at very best, as much a pragmatic move as one driven by any moral impetus, you know — I’ll take it. At least EA had the gumption to actually say that it creates such an HR nightmare for them as well (just imagine being on the OTHER side of that too–my partner and I were asked to sign an affidavit–totally ignoring the fact that we have joint bank accounts and have both our names on the mortgage to our house. ) Ahem, anyway. This at least makes me happy–and I think it shows a dedication (even one motivated by self-interest) to the gay community. Even a few years ago, a company openly declaring support for the LGBT community was totally unheard of. Now I can think of at least 5 off the top of my head.
Brilliant, and totally makes me day 🙂
